KEEPING UP WITH _____

A study from McGill University suggests that people are happier when money is not a major focus in their lives. The researchers found that individuals who live in communities where money plays a minimal role report very high levels of happiness. A better vehicle. A newer home. A great outfit. A good restaurant. A nice vacation. Is it the American dream or American nightmare? We lack in levels of happiness and our stress over debt is at an all-time high. What happens to our relationships and our soul when our focus is all about keeping up with the Jones’?

Wesley’s Covenant Prayer (Contemporary Version)

I am no longer my own, but yours.
Put me to what you will, rank me with who you will.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed for you or laid aside for you,

Exalted for you or brought low for you.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things to your pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are mine, and I am yours. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen.
