Where is the Kids Ministry Located?

Spring Lake Campus: As you come in the main lobby doors, turn left and follow the Shore Kids sign down the stairs.

Coopersville Campus: Follow the check-in signs upon arrival to your child’s age specific room.

I'm new. How do I make sure my kids get checked-in?

Spring Lake: As you come down the stairs from the lobby, follow the Guest Check-In Signs.  A volunteer will print a name tag for each child and give you a parent tag.  You will need this tag to pick up your child.  On your next visit, you will be able to check-in on one of the computers.

Coopersville: Complete a registration form in your child’s room. Complete a nametag with your child's name and security code and mark your child present on the roster.

My kids have attended before. How do I check them in?

Spring Lake: You can check-in your child at any of the computers in the Shore Kids lobby.  If you need assistance, we’re happy to help!

Coopersville: Check-in happens at each age-specific kids ministry room. Complete a nametag with your child's name and security code.

When do my kids get promoted to the next grade/age-group?

Our promotion policy is a little different for each campus, due to facility set-up at each location.

Spring Lake

  • Infants are promoted to the ones room when they turn 1 and are walking.
  • Toddlers are promoted to the twos room when they turn 2 years old.
  • To move into the 3 year old preschool classroom, a child must be 3 years old and potty trained.

  • To move into the 3 year old preschool classroom, a child must be 3 years old and potty trained.

All other ages are promoted at the end of each school year. All kids will be moved up to the next grade on the first Sunday of June.

What kind of security check do volunteers go through?

All of our volunteers must pass a national background check, as well as meet with a Shore Kids staff member prior to serving.

What if my child has food allergies or dietary restrictions?

All of our snacks are peanut free. Please indicate any dietary restrictions on the child’s registration form. Once registered, allergies will be listed on the child’s name tag.

Spring Lake Campus Only:

How can I be contacted during the service?

If you need to be reached during the service, your child's number will display on the screen in the worship center. This number is located on the parent tag that you received at check-in.

  • Each child will have a name tag attached to their shirt. The tag will have the child's name, allergies, and a security number. This number the parent security tag number.
  • Kids must be checked in by an adult.
  • Please make sure all items (bottles, pacifiers, and other personal belongings) are labeled with the child's name.
  • For security reasons, only scheduled volunteers should enter the nursery/classroom. All volunteers will be wearing a Shore Kids shirt.

  • Kids will only be released after verifying that the number on their tag matches the number on the security badge held by their parent or guardian.

Spring Lake Security Doors

In order to create a secure learning environment, we will begin locking the glass doors near the 4th & 5th grade classroom to secure our Kids Ministry area. In order to pick up your 4th & 5th grade kids, please walk down from the west side of the lobby stairs into the kids lobby as the doors by the 4th & 5th grade classroom will remain locked on Sundays.

Sickness Policy

Since an illness can be passed to other kids and volunteers, kids exhibiting the following symptoms should not enter the nursery/classroom: Excessive runny nose, yellow or green nasal drainage, yellow or green drainage from the eyes, cough, fever, rash, or recent exposure to any communicable disease or illness. There are no exceptions to this policy for the safety of everyone in the nursery/classroom.

In Case of an Emergency

Fire: Room volunteers follow procedures to take kids outside as quickly and safely as possible. Parents can pick up their kids outside after a classroom roster count is completed.

Tornado Watch: Weather conditions are monitored by staff. Parents can request to take their kids home.

Tornado Warning: Kids are moved to the closest room without windows. These rooms have a symbol on their room signs that show that they are “tornado safe rooms.” Parents can request to take their kids home and pick them up in one of these “safe rooms.”

Child Dedication is a parent-initiated act of blessing. A child of any age is welcome to be dedicated, and you do not have to be a member to dedicate, but believe in Jesus and commit to raising your child in Christ.

“Registration for our fall Child Dedication is closed.  There will be another Dedication in March – more information to come.”

We deeply believe that Jesus calls each of us to be servants as we live out our faith. We love having the opportunity to minister to the Next Generation, and we invite you to join us as we raise up young people to be passionate followers of Christ. As parents, you have a unique perspective into the lives of children, since you walk with them each day. We would love to have you on our team as we reach each other’s kids and advance the kingdom through the Next Generation.
